Appearance & Text
Everything on this page is under Settings on your status page.
Branding
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Logo | Shown in the page header. Use a transparent PNG or SVG that works on your header colour. |
| Favicon | The browser tab icon. |
| Logo position | Left or Center. |
| Default Appearance | Match visitor device, Light or Dark. |
| Header background colour | Defaults to #8830F5. |
| Page background (light) | Page background in light mode. |
| Page background (dark) | Page background in dark mode. |
TIP
Match visitor device respects the visitor's own light/dark preference, which is almost always the right default. Only pin it to Light or Dark if your logo and colours only work in one of them.
If you pick custom background colours, check both modes. A colour chosen against a white background often disappears against a dark one.
Return link
Return to URL and Return to text add a link back to your main site — for example "← Back to Acme". Visitors usually arrive at a status page from somewhere else and appreciate a way back.
Leave both empty to hide the link.
Intro
A rich-text block shown near the top of the page. Useful for a sentence explaining what the page covers, or where to go for support if a service is down.
Customising the text
Every visitor-facing string is editable, so you can match your tone of voice or publish in a language other than English.
Status wording
| Setting | Default meaning |
|---|---|
| All systems operational | Shown when everything is up |
| Service may be impacted | Shown when something is degraded |
| Problems detected | Shown when something is down |
| Status unknown | Shown when a service has no recent data |
| Maintenance in progress | Shown during a maintenance period |
Uptime and incident wording
90 days ago, Today, Uptime, Incidents in the past and No incidents this day — the labels around the uptime bars and incident history.
Issue reporting form
Report an issue, its intro text, Affected service, Description, Please select, Send, Report sent and Your report submitted — see Reports & Subscribers.
Subscribe
Subscribe — the label on the email subscription form.
Auto-update templates
When auto updates are on, these templates decide what gets published. Each has a title and a message:
| Event | Template |
|---|---|
| A service goes down | Auto title on down / Auto message on down |
| A service becomes degraded | Auto title on degraded / Auto message on degraded |
| A service recovers | Auto title on recovered / Auto message on recovered |
All six support a {service} placeholder, replaced with the affected service's name:
Title: {service} is experiencing problems
Message: We are aware of an issue affecting {service} and are investigating.
The next update will follow within 30 minutes.TIP
Write these before you need them. An automatic message published during a real incident is seen by everyone, and the moment it fires is the worst possible time to discover it still says something generic.
Timezone
Under Settings → General, the status page Timezone controls how times are displayed to visitors — incident timestamps and the day boundaries on the uptime bars.
Set it to the timezone your users are in, which is not necessarily your own.
Best Practices
- Preview on a phone. Most status page traffic during an incident is mobile.
- Check both light and dark after changing colours.
- Keep the intro short. One sentence. People arriving during an outage are scanning, not reading.
- Use your own domain so the page feels like yours — see Custom Domain.
